I've thought for a while that the website was looking tired. But oh, what a big job to try and sort! So here I am on holiday, I've packed the husband and children off to the noisy, smelly swimming pool full of scary flumes, trying to decide what to do with my site! I have many new creative ideas but unless people know about them there is no point continuing along that path. So..... Best I try and get my techy head on!!
I've been working on this project for weeks but have finally got there!
I've been wanting to turn photos into stitched pictures for ages but couldn't find the best technique to get it to work!
After many aborted attempts I feel like I've finally got there and I am happy with the end result!
The idea behind this is that the customer can just email me their photo and I will manipulate it using photo software and turn it into a stitched picture! Something totally unique and timeless!
Watch this space to see how it develops!
Back to stitching.....
I am six days into a six week recovery period after a foot operation. During this time I am unable to move around very much so whilst it is at times frustrating, I am also quite enjoying the excuse to make and craft.
This first project - an apple footstool was supposed to last me a lot longer but was so addictive I managed to complete it in a couple of days! With the left over wool I made a cushion cover for one of my cushions which was looking a bit tired!
This year I vowed that my New Year's resolution would be to update my blog regularly. Well it's now mid March and this is my first post of 2015! Oh.....Ironically my lack of posting has largely been due to lots of new makes, some for business and some personal.
I'll start of with some makes I made for a dear friend who has just had baby twins. What a lovely excuse to get busy stitching and making. I decided to do a cross stitch picture as this is something I could never sell as I am far too slow at making them. I also wanted to make some booties. Highly impractical (in my experience!) but oh so sweet to look at. All accompanied by a very basic homemade card.
Well it seems to be that orders are like buses, just when you think you're up to date and are wondering what you can do to promote yourself further, there's a sudden flurry of action! Great news, so I am scheduling like mad to get them all done in time!
Otherwise this month I have enjoyed some home projects. Making shorts for my daughter out of last years dresses, a skirt for me out of a dress which must have 'shrunk' (!) and making oven gloves for the kitchen. I love a bit of spring cleaning and whilst doing so made me look with fresh eyes at a few bits around the house! I have a long list of lovely projects I would now like to tackle.... just need a few more hours in the day!
Off to the fabric shop tomorrow - definitely a highlight, especially as I get to go alone, a rare treat during the Easter holidays!
Well today I'm feeling proud of myself as I've managed to add Facebook sharing and Tweet buttons to my site! Technology is not usually my friend but hoping these little additions will help to add to my sites presence. ☺
Well the new website is up and running and apart from a few teething problems all seems to be OK so far!
Whilst finishing the site this week I've also completed this unusual commission (it means guardian angel) and was made to coordinate with another one the recipients family already had.
